Energy Consumption

We’re focused on finding ways to conserve our energy usage, here’s what we have been up to:

  1. In 2025 we recertified for ISO 14001 Environmental Standard, which independently shows that we are fulfilling our environmental performance obligations. Held since 2019.
  2. A successful recertification in 2025 continuing to improve our environmental performance has been independently verified through ISO 50001 Energy Standard. First achieved in 2019.
  3. Our warehouse lighting is 100% energy saving LED of which 90% are motion sensor.
  4. 100% of our energy is sourced from renewable electricity and green gas.
  5. We provide on site charging for our fleet of hybrid and electric company cars
  6. In 2025 we had 352 solar panels installed in a 77KW system producing on-site energy which will decrease our need to purchase energy.

Warehousing Operations

We have put the following initiatives in place in our warehouses:

  1. We've converted our entire forklift fleet to electric power, reducing our environmental impact.
  2. We reuse our cardboard boxes to reduce unnecessary waste.
  3. We do not use any disposable gloves in our warehouses and all our PPE is reusable.
  4. Reconfigured heating system to improve efficiency whilst maintaining a comfortable working environment for our teams.
  5. In 2025 we repaired and improved our roof, replacing roof lights to let in more natural light and installing Solar Panels to create electricity on-site. 352 solar panels have been installed which will produce 77KW at peak.
  6. We’ve installed a pre-stretch wrap machine that uses film capable of extending from 1 metre to 3.5 metres, significantly reducing material usage. The wrap also contains 30% recycled content, supporting our sustainability goals.
  7. We recycle, cardboard, paper, tin plastic, plastic bottles and food waste with 0% going to landfill.

Marketing

We are changing the way we carry out our marketing activities without compromising on our high customer experience standards. Here’s how:

  1. From March 2020 we ceased using all plastic polywrap on all marketing materials with a commitment that we would not send any plastic marketing materials to our customers going forwards.
  2. All paper marketing materials sent to our customers are from sustainable sources.
  3. New online catalogues reduce paper waste and printing emissions, whilst still providing customers with all the information they need. They also enable real-time updates, minimising resource use and aligning with sustainable digital practices.

Better Cotton Initiative

Mitre Linen is committed to contribute to the improvement of cotton farming practices globally through our membership in the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI™).
